Samsung Galaxy Note series has always been a glossy stylized plastic finished body which had been eulogized by many and endured by others. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has introduced a unique faux leather battery door. Nobody will really be mistaken as the synthetic hide has a nicer grip and feel to it. This one is of a boxier shape. The S Pen stylus is no ordinary stylus- the button on the S Pen and the screen digitizer works wonders to augment the thumb on-screen experience. The curvy rim has been swapped by a silver lining with crests and the speaker has been moved to the bottom corner of the smart phone. The speaker change has been quite underwhelming as listening to music through speakers requires silence which is disappointing.
There is a bulging list of features with Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 2 MP front-facing camera, Smart gestures: Smart stay, Smart pause, Smart scroll, Standard 3.5 mm audio jack, Smart volume and Adapt Sound features for the music player and IR port for remote control functionality to name a few. The volume and power buttons have also been changed and moved to the top. Note 3 measures 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3mm (5.95 x
3.12 x 0.33in) which requires large hands to complete tasks if done from one hand. It is one millimeter slimmer than Note 2. It is bigger as well as better and more efficient. Samsung wisely managed to squash out some extra space for the Note 3’s screen space without increasing its size. Till now the phone has never lagged or labored on any task performed by
the users. It is fast as well as efficient.
Note 3 series are big and some may say that it’s huge, but with big size comes big prize. The hefty price will set you back a wallet busting £600 (around $950, AU$1,000) SIM-free. There is no such competition or comparison for Note 3 but closest competitor currently is Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Note 3 takes over the mantle as the world’s most powerful smart phone. It’s not quite as pin sharp as note 2. Though it looks pretty impressive, has to be for the price Samsung has been asking, with a beefier processor and more powerful 13MP camera it’s an appreciating feat.
You also get 3GB of RAM and the option of 32GB or 64GB of internal storage in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the backlights are only displayed when you unlock the handset so the touch keys will automatically disappear when the handset is idle.
From an experimental niche product to standard-setter in just three generations, this smart phone has a cutting edge technology with beautiful large screen and hardware design. Those with petite palms and in a habit of keeping their handsets in their pockets; will struggle with Note 3, but if you’ve been acquainted with its predecessors then you might be sure of this that Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the best looking Note smart phone till date.
